Counselors
2024 COUNSELOR INFO
Every year we count on our counselors to make camp a success! There are 3 levels of counselors which include Program Aides (girls entering 7th grade), CITs (girls entering 8th grade or new to camp), and Counselors (girls entering 9th grade and up). We are looking for responsible and enthusiastic girls to volunteer their time throughout the camp week.
NOTE: Program Aides register using the Camper Registration form, NOT the Counselor Registration Form.
CIT's and Counselors are expected to be at camp before their girls arrive each day, and also expected to remain at camp until all their girls are picked up at the end of each day. They are also expected to be present at camp all week, unless there is an unnegotiable, unavoidable conflict 1-2 particular days. If there is a conflict they must notify the camp directors asap so they can adjust accordingly for the days they will be unavailable/absent.
There are typically 30-35 counselors and an average of 10 girl units. If there are no counselors, there is no camp. You guys run the show! ...So we need you!
Council REQUIRES all Program Aides, CIT's, and Counselors to be a registered Girl Scout regardless of if you are currently in an active troop or not in a troop presently. Current GSUSA/GSHPA Registration costs $25 and it will cover you for 1 yr. Click the following purple link to register.

Counselor Levels
Program Aides- girls entering 7th grade. PA's help out wherever necessary, setting up games, crafts, or activities; or even sometimes substituting in for older counselors who may be out sick or unable to be with their unit's for a particular day. PA's who "shadow" or fill in for older counselors are never left alone with a unit of younger girls and are always paired with the remaining counselor in the unit. PA's are still considered "girl campers" and are allowed to participate in all the activities the younger campers participate in. PA's do not have set counselors in charge since it is more of an independence-building transition year, but they are monitored and work hand-in-hand with the camp directors and camp mom-volunteers. Since PA's are still considered campers, they are still charged for their week at camp.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT's)- girls entering 8th grade. CIT's are considered full time counselors who work with another older experienced counselor. Just as their name suggests, this is the required training year for all counselors. CIT's are never left alone with their unit of girls without permission from the older counselor in their unit. Typically girl camper units have 1-2 experienced, official counselors to 1 CIT. CIT's are not charged for the camp week, since they are providing a volunteer service.
Counselors- teens entering 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, or the summer immidiately following their high school senior year. Counselors must be able to show full responsibility to manage and control their own unit of girls typically ranging between 6-12 girls entering grades 1st thru 6th. Counselors are often also in a position to train or provide guidance to CIT's throughout the week. Sometimes not all counselors will be paired up with a CIT. Typically, units have at least 2 counselors per group with no more than 3. Counselors are not charged for the camp week, since they are providing a volunteer service.
